Meet our Director

Ms. Jones

Hollie Jones is a dedicated educator with a passion for music and a commitment to nurturing the talents of young performers. Graduating from California State University, Los Angeles, with a Bachelor's degree in Music and an emphasis in Music Education, Hollie embarked on her teaching journey with a firm foundation in musical theory and pedagogy. Following her graduation, she pursued her teaching credential while simultaneously sharing her knowledge and love for music at Katella High School.


Beginning her teaching career at Katella High School in 2019, Hollie quickly made a significant impact on the school's choir program. Over the course of three years, she dedicated herself to fostering a culture of musical excellence and collaboration among her students. In 2023, Hollie returned to her alma mater, Cypress High School, where her own passion for music had been ignited years before as a member of the show choir program.


As an alumna of Cypress High School and its esteemed show choir program, Hollie brings a unique perspective and deep understanding of the transformative power of music education. With her unwavering commitment to excellence, she strives to inspire and empower students at every school site she serves, continuously elevating and expanding choir programs to new heights.


Hollie's teaching philosophy is rooted in the belief that music has the power to transcend boundaries and enrich lives. She instills in her students a sense of pride, discipline, and joy in their musical endeavors, fostering not only exceptional musicianship but also a lifelong appreciation for the arts. Through her dedication and passion, Hollie Jones continues to inspire and shape the next generation of performers, leaving an enduring legacy of musical excellence in her wake.

Meet our Choreographer

Karina Alfajora

Karina Alfajora is a passionate choreographer whose journey in the world of dance began at Cypress High School, where she was an active participant in its renowned show choir program. After graduating from Cypress, Karina pursued her academic interests at California State University, Fullerton, where she earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in English with a minor in Child/Adolescent Development.


Throughout her time at CSUF, Karina continued to fuel her love for education and proceeded to pursue her teaching credential. As her time in her educational journey grew, she joined the creative team alongside Ms. Jones, marking the beginning of her choreographer career. Now in her fourth year, Karina has established herself as a prominent choreographer within the community, with a portfolio spanning across Cypress, Katella, and Brea Olinda High School.


As an alumna of Cypress High School, Karina feels a deep sense of pride in giving back to the program that shaped her passion for song and dance. Through her dedication and talent, she continues to leave an indelible mark on the world of show choir, enriching the lives of students and audiences alike with her creative brilliance. Her work is characterized by its dynamic energy, intricate formations, and seamless integration of storytelling elements. With each routine, Karina strives to push boundaries and inspire performers to reach new heights of artistry.

Meet Our Vocal Coach

Melody Sparks

Melody Sparks graduated from Azusa Pacific University (APU) with the first ever double Bachelor of Music in Vocal Performance and Piano Performance, and earned her Master of Music degree in Vocal Arts from USC Thornton School of Music. Her operatic roles include The Sandman (Too Many Sopranos), Fiordiligi (Così Fan Tutte), and Camila (Pepito). In 2019, she was the soprano soloist for Mahler’s 4th Symphony with the APU Symphony Orchestra and she was also accepted to the Young Artist Program at Songfest, a summer art festival for classical singers. Sparks was a soprano soloist in all four choirs she sang in at APU, including the award-winning APU Chamber Singers. Currently, she is a staff singer for the Long Beach Camerata Singers and is active in the Los Angeles area as a freelance musician. As a session singer, she has recorded vocals for a variety of projects, including a TV show soundtrack by Academy Award winning composer Akihiko Matsumoto. Sparks teaches voice lessons at the West Covina High School Performing Arts Academy, is a vocal coach for Cypress High School, has served as a musical director at Mt. SAC Early College Academy, and has her own private studio of vocal and piano students. Along with her solo career, Sparks is a singer/songwriter, pianist, and recording artist with her sister, Violet, as The Sparks Sisters. They are a classical crossover music duo working in collaboration with 5-time Grammy nominated producer Billy Smiley out of Nashville, TN. An album of their original music is set to release in 2024, and they have plans to tour and bring their music to the world in hopes of encouraging and inspiring others.

Meet Our Vocal Coach

Youngjin Kim

Youngjin Kim is a Korean American musician from Los Angeles. He attended California State University, Long Beach, where he studied Jazz Voice under Christine Guter and sang in the nationally renowned group, Pacific Standard Time. A vocalist and beatboxer, Youngjin has a deep passion for group singing, performing at venues such as the Disney Parks, Universal Studios and more. His love for music is rooted in jazz, pop and gospel. He currently teaches voice and coaches several vocal ensembles while performing and pursuing solo artistry.
